Patience to wait.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1)

But if we hope for what we do not have yet, we wait for it with patience.
(Romans 8:25)

As human beings, we often struggle with waiting; we want everything ‘yesterday.’ We lack the patience to wait in line for service, wait for the results of a test, or even wait for God’s answer to our prayers.

If we want to have patience, we need to have hope. And to have hope, we need to have faith. Faith gives us hope, and hope gives us patience. When we lose patience, it’s because we’ve lost hope, and when hope fades, it’s because the faith connected to what we were waiting for has vanished.

Looking at this, we can say that the lack of patience is directly related to the lack of faith. We must remember that our God is sovereign, and He will work at the right time, fulfilling His Word in our lives. Surrender control of your situation to God. Often, God is working for our good in the midst of the long wait.

Trust in the Lord:
Make sure that what you are hoping for is within God’s will for your life.
If you are uncertain that it is His will, seek confirmation from the Lord.
If you are convicted that what you are waiting for is within His will, ask the Lord to increase your faith and let hope guard your heart.
By doing this, you will be filled with patience.

To pray:
Lord, forgive me for being impatient when waiting for things. Reveal Your will to me, and help me to have faith to wait patiently for the fulfillment of Your purpose in my life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
